The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Senate Council, led by Dist. Sen. Ekundina Segun Elvis, the Senate President, issues this press statement to express unwavering support and solidarity with the Honourable Minister of Power and the entire ministry in their commendable efforts to revitalize the power sector. We applaud their dedication in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s vision for a renewed hope agenda for all Nigerians.

In recent days, we have closely followed the Honourable Minister’s interviews where he eloquently outlined the challenges facing the power sector and the proactive steps being taken to overcome them.

The Honourable Minister has showcased a profound understanding and dedication to enhancing service delivery in Nigeria’s power sector. Despite the sector’s hurdles, his tireless commitment to implementing reforms and driving projects signifies a positive shift towards addressing issues across the entire power value chain, encompassing Generation, Transmission, and Distribution.

From the successful completion of power plant projects to addressing liquidity challenges within the value chain and expanding rural electrification efforts, we are confident that the Honourable Minister’s initiatives will yield tangible improvements and lasting solutions. His strategic approach and unwavering resolve are poised to usher in enhanced power supply nationwide.

We commend the Honourable Minister for his steadfast commitment to providing reliable and affordable electricity to every corner of the nation.

Moreover, we unequivocally express our support for the Honourable Minister amidst the orchestrated attacks and collective opposition against the ministry under his leadership by individuals motivated by self-interest and narrow agendas. It is disheartening to witness certain entities, posing as student leaders, try to undermine the Honourable Minister’s commendable endeavors through unfounded criticisms and unjustified assaults on matters vital for the nation’s future.

We implore the Honourable Minister not to be swayed or distracted by the antics of these self-serving individuals whose legitimacy and motives are questionable. The National Association of Nigerian Students firmly stands by the Honourable Minister and pledges our steadfast backing for his initiatives and noble intentions for the Nigerian populace.

In closing, we applaud the Honourable Minister of Power for his exceptional leadership, innovative initiatives, and contributions to the development of Nigeria’s power sector. We recognize the intricacies of the challenges within the power sector and acknowledge that addressing them demands courage, time, and collaborative efforts from all stakeholders. Therefore, we remain dedicated to working in harmony with the Honourable Minister and other stakeholders to achieve sustainable and dependable electricity supply for all Nigerians.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Long live the Ministry of Power!!!
Long live the Honourable Minister of Power!!!

Signed

Dist. Sen. Ekundina Segun Elvis,
Senate President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)
