The Oyo state governor Engineer Seyi Makinde has solicited the continuous support of the Nigerian Army in a bid to protect from all forms of insecurity bedeviling the state.
The governor stated this while he hosted the newly deployed General Officer Commanding, 2 Division of The Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major General Obinna Onubogu, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Monday.
Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde, who appreciated the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their swift response to the self acclaimed agitators who invaded the state secretariat on Saturday, 13th April, 2024.
He further appealed to the chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, to see to frequent changes of the GOC of the 2 division, noting that the state can only achieve meaningful progress of its four pillars with the cooperation of the security agencies.
Earlier in his remarks, the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Obinna Onubogu who spoke on the invasion of the state secretariat Agodi Ibadan, by the self acclaimed Yoruba nation agitators, said he had taken note of the security gaps that preceded the invasion and pledged that under his watch such incident would not arise again.
Major General Onubogu further revealed that, The Nigerian Army would commence its quarterly operations within the old oyo national park, in Oke Ogun Zone in order to weed out the activities of kidnappers, Banditries, and Illegal miners.
