As preparation towards Saturday April 27 local government election gathers momentum, the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), in Oyo State has pledged its support for the State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) towards ensuring a free, fair and acceptable council election in the state.
The State IPAC Chairman, Otunba Adegbenro Fagbemi-Ikolaba made this known shortly after featuring on a television programme.
While commending OYSIEC for its proper preparation for Saturday’s election, Otunba Fagbemi -Ikolaba said every hand must be on deck to ensure the smooth conduct of the poll.
He confirmed that sensitive materials had been deployed since Wednesday to local government areas in far distance, while representatives of political parties have signed a peace accord, pledging their readiness for a violent free council election.
The IPAC chairman also commended political parties in the state, for their display of maturity and peaceful conduct since the campaigns began.
“There must be an effective synergy between relevant stakeholders including security agencies for the success of the election. Political Parties and Politicians also have important roles to play in the making the forthcoming council poll acceptable,” the IPAC Chair held.
Otunba Adegbenro called on the electorate to come out en masse and perform their civic responsibility on Saturday.
The IPAC chairman called on OYSIEC to warn its adhoc staff on the need to ensure professionalism in discharge of their duties before, during and after the poll.
