Ahead of the Saturday, April 27 local government election in Oyo State, electoral officers, political parties, and other critical stakeholders have confirmed the early arrival of both sensitive and non-sensitive materials in the Ogbomoso Zone.
The arrival of the election materials signals the readiness of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), to conduct hitch-free polls across political wards and units in Ogbomoso Zone.
The stakeholders had earlier been charged to maintain peaceful coexistence and support the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) to conduct a transparent and credible council poll tomorrow.
While addressing political parties and stakeholders, the Electoral Officer in Ogbomoso North local government, Mr. Babatunde Olawuyi, and his counterpart in Ogbomoso South, Mr. Sunday Durosawo, charged the people to continue to support OYSIEC to deliver a free and fair election.
The two electoral officers enjoined the political parties’ stakeholders to caution their supporters against thuggery and hooliganism during tomorrow’s election, as security operatives will not hesitate to deal with violators.
Stakeholders of political parties who also spoke at the meeting promised to comply with the rules and regulations of electoral conduct, adding that they will support OYSIEC before, during, and after the polls.
Mediareportsng.com also reports that aside from the security personnel on ground, officials of the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) were also seen vetting the parcels of election materials for compliance.
