Ibadan Youth Indigene Harp on Organic Farming to End Food Insecurity, Unemployment.

As Food items and other essential Commodities continued to skyrocket in the country A Development Expert Mr Wasiu Ojekunle has advocated for the adoption of organic farming to end food Insecurity and unemployment.

 

Ojekunle who is President Ibadan Youth Indigene Association for Development made this known during a programme on tagged “Organic Food Production: A Means for Job Opportunities for Nigerian Youth.”

 

 

According to Ojekunle organic farming is more than just an agricultural practice but a commitment to our environment and healthier living standards

 

” As we gather here virtually from various parts of Nigeria and around the world, I am thrilled to be among those leading the conversation on such an essential topic. Today, we are at a critical juncture. Our nation is blessed with abundant natural resources, a vibrant youth population, and immense potential for agricultural development.”

“The challenges of unemployment looms large, particularly among our youth. It is in this context that organic food production presents not just an alternative, but a transformative strategy for economic growth and employment.” Ojekunle said

 

 Eni Iyi Wasiu Ojekunle who is also a lead convener stressed that Organic farming also offers sustainable solutions to many of our developmental challenges and holds the promise of revitalizing rural economies while ensuring food security.

 

 

“The focus of this webinar is in twofold:To understand the scope and benefits of organic farming in the Nigerian context and to explore how it can serve as a catalyst for job creation for our youth”

 

During the two – day programme on Organic farming, Experts who are at the forefront of agricultural innovation, policy making, and sustainable development shared insights on the latest trends, success stories, and the potential hurdles in the path of organic farming.

Apart from Eni Iyi Wasiu Ojekunle, Discussants at the 2 Day programme included Oyelami Mohammed Adewale Resource Person/ Coordinator of Liberty City and Consult, Foluke Akinyemi,Mr Temitope Oyeladun Abo-Oro ,While Eni Iyi Fakunke Busayo and Eni Iyi Kolawole Hamzat serve as moderators during the event.

 

The programme also targeted to delve into practical strategies for engaging young people in organic agriculture, from education and training to entrepreneurship and market development.
