All arrangements have been in top gear for the smooth coronation of Oba Owolabi Olakuleyin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan as the state government fixed Saturday June 1 2024 for the burial ceremony of immediate- past Olubadan Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun
The burial ceremony for immediate- past Olubadan according to Ibadan traditions signal the commencement of the coronation of the new olubadan which may likely to hold some weeks after Eid li Kabir festival popularly known as ileya.
The state burial for the Oba Balogun is billed to take place at the main bowl of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, in Ibadan, the state capital.
The Oyo State Governor Egnr Seyi Makinde who is also the son of soil is not only ready to give necessary support for the smooth coronation for the next Olubadan of Ibadan but also ensure that due process is done before the commencement of the next Olubadan.
The seat of Olubadan of Ibadan became vacant following the demise of Oba Balogun, who joined his ancestors at the age of 81 after a two-year reign.
The Ibadan kingmakers, last month, had forwarded the name of Oba Olakulehin as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland to Governor Seyi Makinde, through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Also, the newly-built multimillion-naira Olubadan Palace at Oke Aremo, in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state, would be inaugurated two days before a yet-to-be-fixed date for the coronation of Olubadan designate Oba owolabi Olakuleyin
