Cholera Outbreak : Oke Amu residents urges to prioritize personal hygiene.

People of Oke Amu community in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State have been charged to be conscious of their personal hygiene particularly on what they consume and also seek for medical help any time they notice the signs and symptoms of cholera outbreak.

 

 

Medical experts gave the charge at the two day free medical outreach organized by a philanthropist Chief Mukaila Adewale Oseni gave the charge.

 

 

The two day medical outreach held Oke Amu Community Health Centre was designed to commemorate the 33rd year anniversary of his Majesty, the Olugunwa of oke amu, Oba Abdul Kazali Omotosho Fadeyi on the throne.

The duo of Prof Ajediran Idowu Bello of the University of Ghana and Dr.Adebiyi Olalekan Fatai of the NSIA LUTH, Lagos, while sensitizing the people on the hazards of cholera outbreak, signs and symptoms and the solution towards preventing the scourge reiterated that the people of oke amu community should be conscious about the safety of the food and water they consume.

 

While admonishing people to desist from open defecation, the medical experts also advised people at the grassroot to avoid self medication which is inimical to their well-being.

 

In a chat with Mediareportsng.com on the motive for organizing the medical outreach, Chief Mukaila Oseni said his childhood experience in Oke Amu gave him the opportunity to empathize with the people and do his best to alleviate their suffering, especially on health related issues.

 

He stressed that he had in the past organized a series of developmental and empowerment programmes for the people of the area.

 

Chief Oseni assured them of more of his philanthropic gestures in the community and promised that the exercise will be a continuous one.

 

In their separate remarks, Former Member,Oyo State House of Assembly Hon Ogundokun Dele Hassan, Retired Captain Adebayo Nurudeen, Mrs Ajekemi Balogun nee Adegbola and the Executive Chairman Itesiwaju Local Government Hon Ojo Mosur Olayemi appreciated the organizer Chief Mukaila Oseni for giving back to the society especially at this critical period.

 

 

They expressed their optimism that the free medical care will in no small measure compliment the government’s efforts at addressing health challenges bedeviling the people of the area.

 

The two day free medical outreach featured treatment of different ailments, in which free tests of blood level,sugar level, urine test among others were conducted with the distribution of free drugs to cure their ailments.
