The Polytechnic Librarian for Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Dr. Olatundun Oyewumi has been appointed as the University Librarian for Emmanuel Alayande, University, Oyo.
The Rector, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi, other Management, Staff and Students have continued to express joy over the appointment.
In his congratulatory message signed by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. R.F.A. Adeniji, the Rector on behalf of the Governing Council Chairman, entire Management, Staff and Students, felicitate Dr. Oyewumi whom he described as a distinguished Scholar and iconic woman.
The Rector noted that Dr. Oyewumi would be remembered for her positive contributions to OYSCATECH Library and educational advancement of the institution and Staff members.
The Rector expressed optimism that her appointment will bring speedy development to Emmanuel Alayande University of Education Library and the institution at large, considering her wealth of experience as a certified librarian coupled with years of practice at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
Prof. Akinlabi wished her a fruitful and successful stay in office while praying God to grant her more enablement and wisdom in the discharge of her responsibility at the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo.
Until her appointment, Dr. Olatundun Oluwatoyin Oyewumi was the Polytechnic Librarian for Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.
Dr. Oyewumi is an Associate Professor of Library Science in the Department of Library and Information Science, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria.
She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music in 1988 from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife coupled with Master and PhD degrees in Library Studies both from the University of Ibadan in 1997 and 2013 respectively.
She is a chartered Librarian with the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria and has a Certificate in Electronic Data Processing in 1994 from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
She began her career in Library Science at the Olusegun Oke Library, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, where she joined the University Library as a Librarian-in-Training which is equivalent to a Graduate Assistant in 1992 and rose through the ranks to become Deputy University Librarian in 2010.
She recently moved from the University Library to the newly created Department of Library and Information Science as an Associate Professor at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
She has been involved in both independent and collaborative research within and outside the library with colleagues both practicing and teaching librarians and other researchers in her areas of interest.
She has published over 30 peer reviewed journal articles and conference papers.
Dr. Oyewumi joined the services of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora in December, 20, 2022 where she was until her appointment.
Some of her staff revealed that her short stay has brought tremendous growth to OYSCATECH Library and Library and Information Department.
