Stakeholders across the Oke Ogun area of Oyo State have been charged to shun sentiments, love one another and work harmoniously for the overall development of the area.
These remarks was part of submissions made by the guests who spoke at the annual Oke Ogun Indigenous Youth Solidarity Forum programme, held at Ago-Are in ATISBO local government area of Oyo State.
The epoch event was held under the auspices of the Aare of ago are,His Majesty Oba Michael Kofoworola Abodunrin Olakanla the second, Olokaka of Okaka His Majesty Oba Abdul azeez Olatunji Ayoola Ogelende the fourth,Alago of Ago amodu , the Alageere of Ofiki and the President, Saki Parapo, Chief Festus Adejumobi.
The programme, which was the fourth edition with the theme; Building the oke ogun of our dreams” was also attended by several government functionaries, community leaders and students from schools across the council area.
Speaking on the topic : Rebuilding the oke ogun education, strategies for improvement and best practices, Hon Commissioner for Education, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, ably represented by the Permanent Secretary/ Inspector General, Ministry of Education, Saki Zone, Mr Oloyede commended the dignitaries present and the organizers for the topic, which he described as timely and appropriate to address prevailing situations in the education sector .
He explained strategies being implemented by the state government towards reviving the education sector across the state, particularly in the oke ogun area.
He said these include personalized learning without any interference and running an inclusive education system,devoid of any discrimination, use of ICT and retraining of teachers.
According to him, the state government has also adopted community engagement and feedback assessment among others to improve the education sector.
Also speaking on the importance of moral values, good parenting and communal engagement, a board member,Oyo State Housing Corporation, Hon. Mrs. Adeboyin Adeola from Igboho lamented that the rich yoruba culture has been eroded by the borrowed Western culture.
She reiterated the need for oke Ogun indigenes to be united, saying unity of purpose is necessary to restore yoruba norms and values system.
She identified integrity, fairness,justice, communal engagement, hard work and contentment as core values that must be sustained in our society.
Mrs Adeola therefore admonished the people of oke ogun irrespective of their class or status to love one another and always be the vanguard of change for the overall development of Oke Ogun area.
In the same vein,the Provost, Federal College of Education, Special Oyo, Dr. Ademola Abdul Rauf Salami and a Former President, Oke Ogun Indigenous Youths Solidarity Forum ;1987 to 1997 set, Alhaji Waheed Shitu Owonikoko explained the importance of good parenting and urged parents to provide qualitative education for their children.
The epoch event also featured presentation of awards of excellence to eminent sons and daughters of oke ogun who have excelled in their chosen careers.
Two prominent ace presenters on oke ogun 96.3 fm alaga, Chief Dele Faleti and Chief Sesan Onibode were among the awardees in recognition of their remarkable achievements in the broadcast industry.
