The Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Council, Bayelsa State Bulodisiye Ndiware has described the Supreme Court judgement in favour of Governor Douye Diri as an affirmation of the people’s will.
In an interview, Ndiware expressed his elation and happiness, stating that the judgement reaffirmed the mandate given to Governor Diri and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, on November 11, 2023.
Ndiware advised the opposition political party to work with the Governor to develop the state, stating that they have beautiful ideas that can contribute to the growth of Bayelsa.
He commended Governor Diri’s pace of development, citing the construction of roads and bridges, including the ongoing bridge project across the River to Oporoma.
Ndiware also highlighted his achievements in office, including passing the budget and drawing up a ten-year development plan for Yenagoa.
He noted that his administration is working to revive moribund projects and expand markets, and is exploring partnerships with IOCs and other agencies to support his vision.
However, Ndiware acknowledged challenges, including the high cost of development in the region due to the challenging terrain.
He also addressed the issue of electricity supply, stating that efforts are underway to revive the moribund gas turbine and explore partnerships for self-sufficiency in electricity generation and distribution.
Ndiware expressed his commitment to justifying his conscience and satisfying God Almighty by delivering on his mandate and leaving a lasting legacy and invited the press to revisit his achievements in six months’ time.
