Mrs. Balkis Olatunji, wife of the Oluyole Local Government Chairman, yesterday hosted all the wives of Councillors in the Council.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Olatunji emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in driving grassroots community development.

The event, held at the Oluyole Local Government Secretariat, Idi-Ayunre, also had in attendance, wife of the Vice Chairman and Political Head of Akorede LCDA, Mrs. Rukayat Omotayo Akorede.

Mrs. Olatunji urged the women to forge stronger bonds and collaborate with their husbands effectively to enable them address local challenges facing their various wards.

In her address, the executive chairman’s wife X-rayed key significance of women’s involvement in community initiatives, stressing that unity among the councillors’ wives could lead to more impactful and sustainable results.

While expressing appreciation to wife of the state Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, for her motherly role in mentorship and leadership, Mrs. Olatunji vowed to replicate the Oyo First Lady’s inclusive approach to governance at the grassroots.

“Our collective strength can drive meaningful change. By working together with a shared purpose, we can tackle the issues that matter most to our communities.

“We’re the pillars of our homes, our role in the lives of our husbands has a long way to go in creating mental, physical, and emotional stability for them to focus on the business of governance.

“This is just the beginning, together we can create a more united and prosperous Oluyole.”

“Our mother, mentor, and leader, wife of the Executive Governor, Her Excellency, Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, through her exemplary visionary leadership has planted a seed that drives unity of purpose in us.

“Her guidance and mentorship are already helping me as a person reshape my disposition to being pragmatic and to play a more supportive role to help my husband succeed in the mandate given him by the good people of Oluyole LG.

“It is the same seed of unity of purpose that I want to plant in you so that we can all become more supportive to our husbands who have been elected as Councillors in our various Wards.” Mrs. Olatunji said.

The proposition was well-received, with the councillors wives expressing enthusiasm for the collaboration and spirit of collectiveness among them in the Council while committing themselves to maintaining support for Mrs. Olatunji in her role as wife of the executive Chairman and also one another.

Mrs. Olatunji, who presented the Councillors wives with cash gifts reiterated her commitment to supporting and enhancing the role of women in local governance.

Present at the meeting was Mrs Basirat Bamidele, the PDP Women Leader in Oluyole LG.
