The Living Perfect Master and Founder of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has expressed strong disapproval of the criticisms and disrespectful comments against the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare Il, by two suspended dukes Gregory Akenzua and Edomwonyi Iduozee Ogiegbaen as a taboo”.
Two suspended Ehigie (Dukes) of Evbuobanosa and Egbaen Siluko Dukedoms in Benin Kingdom, Prof Gregory Akenzua and Chief Edomwonyi Ogiegbaen had on behalf of some others, sued the monarch at Edo State High Court, challenging their suspension from offices.
Furthermore, the pair, speaking on behalf of others, asserted that their removal from their positions could only be done by the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and not by the monarch who had suspended them for rebelling against his authority.
The High Court admitted the Benin Traditional Council, as a party in a suit instituted by suspended (Enigie) Dukes in Benin, against the Oba.
Satguru Maharaj Ji, however, gave a 77-days ultimatum to the chiefs to apologize for their alleged disrespect to the monarch.
Satguru Maharaj Ji, who revealed this in a press release through the Divine Minister of Information for One Love Family, Ojo Mogbadewa, described Oba Ewuare 11 as the “mouthpiece of the Creator and the revered Royal Father of the kingdom.”
“The throne of the Oba of Benin is highly revered by the Bini people over whom the Oba exert rulership and influence. This regard for the Oba extends to other parts of Nigeria and internationally as well. Connection with history and tradition has helped the Binis to preserve the relevance of the throne in their daily affairs not minding the vacuum of constitutional support for the throne in modern administration of the Benin society.
“The authority of the throne and its relevance rest squarely on traditional myth and superstition. But whoever will dare myth and superstition must be ready to see the Oba! When in Benin it is said that one will see the Oba, it brings to mind a moment with life or death whichever the King decides.
“The actions, words and behaviour of the chiefs are a desecration of our values and a grave insult to the Benin people and our traditional institutions.
Satguru Maharaj Ji, posited that the Chiefs action was an affront, intentional desecration and sacrilege against revered stools.
“Kingship is an institution of God. As such, relating with kings requires a high sense of modesty, courtesy and respect.
“This misadventure and poli-drama is indeed a big slap against Oba Ewuare
Il (Benin tenets and nucleus traditional beliefs). Because we now have a Christian Governor in Edo State today, must our tradition be cast as a
monumental taboo and extreme barbarism?”
He said: “It is absolutely unacceptable to see our tradition being blazingly desecrated by politicians, whose span of tenure are limited, while our Obaship stool remains eternal.
‘Edo heritage is one of the world’s most appreciated tradition, considering their identity and cultural balance, wherein their strength lies in the efficacy of those rites and prestige associated with the Obaship stool from time immemorial till date.
My Love and Blessings
