The APC New Media Directorate warns the good people of Edo State to be cautious of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s latest antics.
His sudden closure of schools under the guise of rising fuel prices is not only misleading but a blatant attempt to sow confusion and chaos in our state.
Let it be known—since the removal of the fuel subsidy, fuel prices are determined by market forces and beyond the control of the federal government. Obaseki is fully aware of this, yet he has chosen to play politics with the future of our children.
This reckless action, telling children to stay home indefinitely, is nothing short of an invitation to anarchy. At a time when our youths need education more than ever, Obaseki has chosen to deprive them of learning opportunities for his selfish political gain.
He seeks to posture as a “man of the people,” while his administration has been nothing but a colossal failure.
Despite receiving over 17 billion Naira in monthly revenue, Obaseki has not built a single new school throughout his tenure. Instead, the educational infrastructure put in place by the “Red Roof Revolution” of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole—schools in every ward across Edo State—has been left to rot.
These schools now lack teachers, desks, and even basic facilities, leaving the students abandoned and forgotten.
Obaseki’s hypocrisy knows no bounds. This is the same man who employed teachers on contract and shamelessly told them that their future as permanent staff depends on the electoral victory of his puppet, Asue Ighodalo.
Does this sound like a leader who genuinely cares about education? His recent actions are nothing more than a desperate ploy to manipulate public opinion and turn the people of Edo against the APC.
Obaseki’s tactics are clear: create confusion, divert attention from his monumental failures, and use the education of our children as a bargaining chip. But we will not be silent in the face of this gross irresponsibility.
Edo people should not be deceived by this charade. Obaseki is trying to score cheap political points ahead of the election by pretending to care about the welfare of our children, when in reality, he has failed to enhance their educational prospects in any meaningful way.
The APC New Media Directorate condemns this in the strongest possible terms. Governor Obaseki’s political games are a direct threat to the future of Edo State. The people deserve better—our children deserve better. Edo deserves real leadership, not a tyrant who puts his political survival above the well-being of the state.
Signed,
Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah
