The Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere has commended Nigerians for their enduring spirit during the last 64 years of the nation’s independence.
The organisation also expressed optimism for a better Nigeria.
These were contained in the independence anniversary message by the leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, made available through the organization’s national publicity secretary, Jare Ajayi.
Pa Fasoranti noted that while the country is going through challenging times, there is need to acknowledge the modest progress being made since the country attained independence.
He said it is noteworthy that Nigeria has remained one country in spite of the civil war and other internal crises that have occurred in the last 64 years, while also running an unbroken democracy since 1999.
Afenifere called on all players on the nation’s political field to act democratically and implement people-friendly policies, while calling on the Tinubu administration to do more to enhance security, agriculture, education, economy and infrastructure development.
