The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) has assured Nigerians that water levels on the River Niger are under control as the country prepares for potential flooding.
NIHSA’s Director-General, Mr Umar Mohammed gave this assurance today in a statement in Abuja.
He however stressed the importance of adhering to flood preparedness protocols.
Mr. Mohammed added that water levels in the Niger River Basin have been gradually receding since early October.
He added that Jebba Dam is currently spilling excess water in coordination with operators of the Kainji Dam.
