As momentum gathered towards conducting much anticipated ONDO State Governorship Election,the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated its commitment to conduct an acceptable election across the 18 local government areas of the state
The Head of Voters Education INEC Ondo state Dr Temitope Akanmu made this known in a chat with mediareportsng.com at Alagbaka Akure INEC office of the commission .
Dr Akanmu said the commission has deployed both sensitive and non sensitive materials to the local government INEC offices in order to ensure a free fair and credible election while logistics have been provided for the prompt arrival of voting materials in all the polling units in the state.
He also appealed to voters to troop out en masse to perform their civic duties and shun any act that capable of truncating the peaceful process.
” No doubt INEC is ready for the peaceful conduct of the exercise. We can only appeal to our people to continue to be law abiding citizens before , during and after the Governorship Election.” Akanmu said.
Mediareportsng.com also gathered that the INEC headquarters office in Alagbaka was filled with the presence of various detachments of Police personnel, Men of the Nigerian Army and members of the NSCDC were stationed to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Also the capital city of Akure in Ondo state remained calm as people carried out their commercial activities in a peaceful atmosphere.
Recall that 18 of the 19 registered political parties in Nigeria are fielding candidates for the November 16 Governorship Election in Ondo state.
