The Oyo State Government has assured its citizens that there will be no strike action in the State, in spite of the National body of organized labour calling for a nationwide strike from today.
The State Commissioner for Information & Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade gave this assurance in a statement issued in Ibadan.
The Commissioner explained that on-going negotiations between the State Government and the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are at an advanced stage and on the verge of implementation.
Besides, the two labour unions have unfettered confidence in the sincerity of the negotiations.
Such confidence, according to the statement is fueled by the track record of the current administration as a promise-keeping Government.
The State Government has in the meantime re-affirmed that the generous ₦80,000 minimum wage approved by Governor Seyi Makinde will be implemented as soon as the Consequential Adjustment negotiations are concluded.
The Government also said that workers can look forward to prompt payment of December salaries and the 13th month bonus as has always been the practice with the Seyi Makinde administration since inception.
