After considering her numerous contributions to the Society through various Empowerment and other Human Development Programmes, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of DLA Toys and Amusement Park, Ikeja, Lagos and the CEO, AVO Pizza Fabulous, Arepo, Ogun State, Yeye(Dr.) Folashade Shona has been bestowed with a Prestigious Award of Philanthropist of the Year 2024 by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ FRCN Ibadan Chapel.
Yeye Shona, a Businesswoman, Entrepreneur and Educationist was conferred with the Award during the NUJ FRCN Ibadan Chapel Press Week held on Thursday at the Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Headquarters, Dugbe, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Presenting the Award to her, the Zonal Director, FRCN SouthWest Zone, Mr. Dominic Mokikan commended Yeye Folashade Shona for her empowerment programmes, support to the less-privileged and for being a humble and friendly personality despite her status in the society.
Speaking further about the Awardee who was represented by her brother, Mr. Samuel Adesina, one of the Committee Members, Comrade Olawale Asake noted that the Award was given to Yeye Folashade Shona for the great impact she is making in touching lives, blessing to humanity and adding value to others.
Chairman of the Union, Comrade Oluwakayode Banjo appealed to the Award Recipient not to relent as people like her are rare in the society, saying her contributions paved ways for the Award given to her.
Responding to the Award to her as Philanthropist of the Year 2024, Yeye (Dr) Folashade Shona appreciated the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ FRCN Ibadan Chapel for finding her worthy to be honoured with such Award particularly from a respected and professional organisation like NUJ.
She dedicated the Award to God for giving her opportunities to contribute her quota to the life of others, also to her husband whom she described as a strong pillar of support and her “Kabiyesi” and to all the Female Artisans in the Country.
Other Award Recipients were the Senator Representing Oyo North, Dr. Abdulfatai Buhari, as Outstanding Senator of the Year 2024; Member Representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Remi Oseni as Best Performing House of Representatives Member of the Year 2024; and the Wife of a Former Governor of Oyo State, Dr(Mrs) Florence Ajimobi as the NUJ FRCN Ibadan Personality of the Year 2024.
In attendance at the Event were Committee of Management, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, Executive Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council, Patron and Patroness of NUJ FRCN Ibadan Chapel, Prince Niran Adeyoju and Ambassador Romoke Ayinde respectively, Politicians, Captains of Industries, Journalists from Various Media Houses among others.
