As part of activities to climax 2024 targeted at boosting economic opportunities and uplift local communities, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, alongside the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, and other top government officials, will tomorrow storm Oluyole Local Government Area for a grand cash Empowerment Program.

Others expected to grace the event include the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters; Otunba Ademola Ojo ‘Ijaya’, the Executive Chairman of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB); Hon. Nureni Adeniran, and other top state government officials.

The event, organized by the Executive Chairman of Oluyole local government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, in collaboration with local stakeholders, aims to provide both financial and technical support to local entrepreneurs, vulnerable women and youth.

According to a statement by the Council boss on Monday morning, 256 beneficiaries comprising aged women and youths will receive cash grants and mentorship in various sectors, including agriculture, small-scale industries, and digital entrepreneurship.

The event will also witness presentation of recognition awards to selected private establishments that have been committed and contributed through their corporate social responsibilities (CRS) to the overall grassroots development of Oluyole local government.

According to the council chairman, the empowerment program is part of his overall human capacity building agenda to enhance the local government economic growth and provide sustainable livelihoods to its citizens in line with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde on sustainable development agenda under Omituntun 2.0.

Olatunji equally emphasized that the event would serve as a platform to not only distribute financial and material assistance but also to empower local residents with the resources needed to thrive in today’s competitive economy.

“I am excited to announce our grand economic empowerment program to climax our activities for the year 2024 which has no doubt been very eventful.

“This empowerment clearly represents the core of our government’s commitment to economic development at the grassroots level.

“The people of Oluyole and surrounding communities will benefit immensely from this initiative, which is designed to promote economic independence and job creation among our people,” Olatunji said.

The empowerment program, which is expected to attract hundreds of participants, will also have the Deputy Governor and the Speaker address the attendees, with a special focus on government policies and programs aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting sustainable growth at the grassroots.

Olatunji however, encouraged local residents to turn out in their numbers receive the deputy governor, speaker, and other dignitaries at the empowerment program, which he said promises to be a major step towards economic transformation in Oluyole local government.
