It was a celebration galore in the ancient town of Baasi as eminent personalities across oke ogun and beyond converged on the palace of Onibaasi of Baasi Oba Dr Sunday Azeez Babatunde Asunmo Modele to celebrate the 2024 Ojude Oba festival.
The epoch event which was the 2nd edition, was full of funfair and pageantry, featuring traditional rulers, political bigwigs, religious leaders, government officials and large gathering of Baasi indigenes who came from far and near.
In their separate remarks, an INEC official, ATISBO local government, Mr. Sulaimon Olakunle Azeez, a community leader; Mr Yakubu Alimi Adesina and Evangelist Precious Oba imoleayo from Ogbooro spoke on the significance of Ojude Oba festival in Baasi.
They said the festival was designed to foster unity of purpose among the inhabitants of Baasi.
They assured everyone that the festival has come to stay and as such, charged Baasi indigenes to promote and elevate the festival up to the level of Ojude Oba festival in Ogun State.
The trio urged Baasi indigenes to continue to contribute their quota to the development of their ancient town.
The Olori Onibaasi of Baasi Mojirayo Janet Babatunde while speaking on behalf of her husband, congratulated the people of Baasi on the auspicious occasion and charged them to see the task of developing Baasi as a collective responsibility.
Earlier in his welcome address, Baasi Community Chairman, Prince Tajudeen Ashafa rejoiced with the people of Baasi on the glorious day.
He appreciated the presence of Olokaka of Okaka His Majesty Oba Abdul azeez Olatunji Ayoola Ogelende the fourth and his fatherly role to the people of Baasi from time immemorial.
While appreciating the dignitaries present at the occasion, Prince Ashafa called for a peaceful celebration.
The community chairman also stated that the love, unity and oneness exhibited by the people of Baasi during the celebration of Ojude Oba festival was commendable and should be sustained in other to move the ancient town to greater height.
Among other dignitaries that graced the event were the Alawaye of Awaye,Onisabe of Sabe,Oninanyin of Inayin,Alapodun of Elekokan, Are isenbaye of oke ogun, Chief Sesan Onibode and Reverend Pastor Olu Ade Alade of Freedom University of Theology, Oke Ogun Chapter,Saki.
