The wife of veteran actor and poet Alagba Adebayo Faleti, Olori Olubunmi Faleti, has called on the government to temper justice with mercy concerning the cases of renowned broadcaster and CEO of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Amusat, and the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Naomi.
Olori Faleti made this appeal during her visit to the duo at the Agodi Correctional Center on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
Speaking about Oriyomi Amusat’s philanthropic work, Olori Faleti highlighted his love for children and his numerous efforts to alleviate societal hardship. She urged the government to consider his goodwill and not discourage such acts of generosity in society.
“In the spirit of Yoruba culture, *’Enikeni ti iwo ba nipa lati se iranlowo fun, owun ni eni keji re to jure,’* meaning ‘Whoever you have the ability to help is your next of kin,’ this is what Oriyomi and Olori Naomi have exemplified,” she said.
Olori Faleti also extended prayers to the families of those children who lost their lives during the children’s carnival tragedy, asking God to comfort them in their loss.
She further emphasized that both Oriyomi and Olori Naomi acted to complement the government’s efforts, acknowledging that the government cannot do it all. She encouraged other philanthropists not to lose hope or stop helping those in need despite the challenges.
“May the Lord continue to bless our country, Nigeria. Together, we can lift it to greater heights,” she concluded.
