Indigenes Tasked On Youth Engagement At Ikirun Stakeholders Foru
The Asiwaju of Ikirunland, Retired DIG Gazali Adewale-Lawal, has called on sons and daughters of the ancient town to always remember their homeland wherever they are, so as to collectively build the Ikirun of their dream
Retired DIG Adewale-Lawal made the call at the 4th Ikirun Stakeholders Forum, where he charged the older generation of Ikirun indigenes to always strive to encourage and groom the younger ones to be part of the efforts geared towards developing their homeland.
The 4th Ikirun Stakeholders Forum provided an avenue for the executive members of the National Ikirun Progressive Union, led by Engr Mustapha Olawuyi (PhD) to render the account of their stewardship.
Speaking, the Asiwaju of Ikirunland, Retired DIG Gazali Adewale-Lawal, urged well meaning indigenes of Ikirun to rally round NIPU, also known as Ikirun Development Association, IDA, in its commitment to taking the town to greater heights.
He also noted that the Ikirun General Hospital is current begging for urgent attention from stakeholders, urging the Akinrun-in-council to help save Ikirun from the activities of land grabbers, in order to encourage more investments.
In his speech, chairman of the day, Prince Abdulafeez Megida, urged the Ikirun youths to pick interest in the laudable activities of the NIPU; saying the newly constructed Ikirun Skills Acquisition Centre is capable of solving problem of insecurity and unemployment among able-bodied youths of Ikirun.
Prince Megida, who appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to increase the tempo of development in Ikirun; also stressed the need for whoever that becomes the next chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, to cooperate with the NIPU, as unity of purpose plays a significant role in the development of any society. He however, admonished politicians to put Ikirun first while in or out of government, and should not allow politicking to slow down the development of their hometown.
Earlier in his Welcome Address, the national President of NIPU, Dr Mustafa Olawuyi, who appreciated all Ikirun indigenes who have played and are still playing significant roles in the current crops of development being witnessed in Ikirun; emphasized the need to collectively rid the town of criminal elements, with the cooperation of all the security agencies, including the recently inaugurated Ikirun Security Joint Taskforce, IKJTF.
Highlights of the 4th Ikirun Stakeholders Forum was the rendering of the financial statement of the outgoing year and approval by the house, of the continuity of the present administration led by Dr Mustapha Olawuyi for another term.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Eesa of Ikirunland, High Chief Abdkareem Adetoyese-Lawal, Dr Ismaila Adeyemi, Representative of Prince Timothy Oyetunji, Eesa of Garage-Olode, Vice Chancellor of Al-Adabiy University, Ilorin, Prof. Jimoh; Prince Kazeem Kasko, Otunba Sarafadeen Awotunde, Engr Jeeje, the Area commander of the Nigerian Police and of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, as well as the DPO, Ikirun headquarters, among others.
