All is now set as the Ojurin of Ijurin Ekiti, His Royal Majesty Oba Joachim Adeyemi Afolabi Ajibola Agungesoye II, will bestowed honourary chieftaincy titles of Baba Adini and Yeye Adini of Ijurin Ekiti on Alhaji Ismail Abiodun Sekoni and Alhaja Fatima Sekoni respectively in recognition of their unwaivering commitment to the growth and development of Ijurin ekiti and in appreciation of their philanthropic gestures over the years.
In a letter of nomination for the honorary titles, issued by Oba Afolabi Ajibola Agungesoye 11 with the support of the entire Awanimora Biekikun family, the honourary chieftaincy titles are in recognition of the duo’s unflinching contributions to the progress, peace and development of ijurin Ekiti.
The Monarch stressed that the decision was taken after due consultation and approval by Ojurin- in- council.
Oba Afolabi Ajibola emphasized that the people of Ijurin Ekiti have significantly benefitted from the philanthropic gestures of Alhaji Ismail Abiodun Sekoni and Alhaja Fatima Sekoni most especially their contributions during and after his coronation and ascension of the throne.
He said the conferment of chieftaincy titles on distinguished personalities in Ijurin Ekiti is part of activities lined up to mark the 10th year anniversary of his ascension of the throne of his forefathers.
According to the release, the coronation anniversary coupled with thanksgiving service has been scheduled to hold on Saturday, 25th January, 2025, while the conferment of Chieftaincy Titles and Thanksgiving Service will come up at CAC , Oke iye, Ijurin Ekiti by 10:30am.
The Reception is expected to hold at Comprehensive High School, Ijurin Ekiti by 12:30pm.
According to their impressive profiles, the first honoree, Alhaji Ismail Abiodun Sekoni is a man of International repute with sterling records.
Born in Igboho,,Oorelope local government area of Oyo State, to the Sekoni family by Alhaji Tiamiyu Akano Adepoju Sekoni and Madam Wuleymot Abike Sekoni.
He attended local Islamiya and Baptist Central School and Irepo Grammar school all in Igboho.
He proceeded to the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University Ile ife,Osun State and the University of Benin Edo State for his Master’s programme.
Alhaji Sekoni,a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) and an eminent ambassador of peace, honoured with a Chartered Fellowship Award by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA).
Alhaji Sekoni, a quintessential personality has also touched the lives of the people of the society positively, through meaningful community engagement with the establishment of e-Library for students to access resources for their intellectual advancement, which he donated to his local government, Oorelope Local Government for proper monitoring and maintenance.
Recently, Alhaji Ismail Abiodun Sekoni empowered youths in Igboho and single handedly distributed over ten motorcycles and five Keke napep to the less privileged in his hometown to curb youth restrictiveness.
During the pandemic of COVID-19, Alhaji Sekoni magnanimously aligned with government programmes and gave out palliatives of rice to the people of his community to cushion the effect of COVID.
Twenty bags of rice were distributed across the ten wards of the council area in which each ward received two bags of rice respectively.
The enigma Sekoni has also made efforts to ameliorate the suffering of the masses through provision of medical equipment and other essential facilities .
He teamed up with well-to-do individuals and friends to provide medical equipment such as beddings and printing of hospital cards for patients medical records.
In the same vein, like husband like wife, Alhaja Fatima Kehinde Sekoni, a woman of substance and a strong pillar behind her husband.
Alhaja Fatima Kehinde Sekoni was born to the families of Alhaji AbdulAziz Amosa (Baban Biyu)and Hajia Hauwa Yusuf (Maman biyu) in Ibeto Magama Local Government of Niger State.
She attended her early education in Ibeto and proceeded to Federal Government Girls College(FGGC) Calabar for her secondary education.
Alhaja Fatima Sekoni then proceeded to Usman Danfodio University for her tertiary education and graduated with a degree in management study, and did her NYSC at NNPC hospital in Warri,Delta State.
Thereafter, she worked as a teacher at Deen Foundation nursery and primary school Warri, Delta State, where she grew from class teacher to assistant head teacher and later relocated to Abuja with her husband.
She is a current member of FEGOCAL Old Students Association, Abuja chapter. She is currently a student of many Islamiyyah schools in Abuja.
