Former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State, Barrister Michael Lana, has lauded the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, for resisting undue pressure to enthrone those not qualified for the stool they are claiming.
Lana in a statement from his Media Office, while commending the Olubadan Advisory Council for supporting the first class monarch on the position he took, said Oba Olakulehin has brought great respect to the revered throne with his action.
According to him, by staying clear of matters that are already pending in courts, the Olubadan has taken the right decision and deserves to be commended for his pro-active stance on legal issues.
The member of the Oyo State Advisory Council noted that those putting pressure on the Olubadan to do their bidding are enemies of the ancient city, stating that
The statement read, “I want to sincerely thank our royal father, the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Advisory Council for resisting the pressures from undeserved people who leverage on personal connections with some members of the Council to get themselves enthroned to stools they are not entitled to.
“Especially like the Sukuru case which is a matter pending in court. The Olubadan has taken the right decision for not allowing himself to be pitched against the court. The law is clear that once a matter is in court parties should not take any steps in the matter.”
