Aare Hon Olayinka Segelu, a Germany-based Ibadan-born businessman and politician of high repute has congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the commencement of Ramadan for the year 1446 AH.

Hon. Segelu, a philanthropist and former Personal Assistant (PA) to ex-Speaker Dimeji Bankole, the Aare Akinrogun of Igbo-Elerinland, in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday urged the Muslim faithful to remain steadfast and remember Nigeria in their prayers.

Ramadan fast which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam is a time of spiritual renewal, self-discipline, charity, and acts of kindness towards humanity.

Aare Olayinka Segelu, a gubernatorial aspirant under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State described the holy month as a period for deep sober reflection, patience and dedicated community service.

He noted that this year’s Ramadan fast is coming at a time when Nigeria is in need of prayers for socio and economic sustainability.

“I congratulate the Muslim Ummah for witnessing the holy month of Ramadan. I’m using this medium to urge our Muslim faithful to use the month-long Ramadan fast to pray for enduring peace in Oyo State and across the country, as well as for improved economic growth and prosperity.

“Every Wednesday during the Ramadan I do organize iftar where people do come and break their fasting and this year I will still continue with the iftar, I’m doing these to support our Muslim Ummah and also to ensure that everyone of us pray for the greatness of this country.”Aare Olayinka Segelu stated.
