The Oke-Ogun Indigenous Youths Solidarity Forum has expressed its profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, for approving the revitalization of the Ikere Gorge Hydropower Plant.
In a statement signed by Comrade Dr. Ojedokun Jonathan, the Forum’s President, the approval was described as a strategic move to improve the power sector in Nigeria. Dr. Jonathan noted that this demonstrates President Tinubu’s and Minister Adelabu’s commitment to enhancing power generation and ensuring Nigerians enjoy regular power supply.
The Forum also welcomed the federal government’s approval for the upgrade of the 60-year-old 330kV Ayede substation, construction of the new Asejire 330kV substation, and construction of a power substation in Lalupon/Ejioku, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State. These projects, according to the Forum, will further boost the power sector in Oyo State.
*Dr. Ojedokun Jonathan said:* “Despite the challenges, Minister Adelabu has made significant impact in the power sector in less than two years in office. We urge the people of Oyo State, especially the youth, to continue supporting President Tinubu and his appointees in their quest to deliver on the Hope Agenda.”
The Forum also called on the Oyo State and Federal Governments to prioritize the development of Oke-Ogun and other areas, providing them with essential social amenities.
