Ahead of commencement of his planned consultation tour with party leaders across the seven geo-political zones in the state, the Honourable Minister for Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu recieved on a courtesy visit, prominent leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ibadan city and outer city at his Iyaganku private residence yesterday.

The Leaders, jointly led by Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe from Ido Local government and Chief Kunle Sanda from Lagelu Local government expressed their appreciation to the Minister for all his efforts at succeeding on his current National assignment and his continuous support for the welfare of party executives and leaders across the state.

The leaders also expressed the need for improved cooperation and collaboration among prominent party members to guarantee the party’s success in subsequent elections. While expressing their commitment to progressive values and internal democracy, they all collectively pledged their support for Adelabu’s gubernatorial aspiration and confident that he would represent a formidable candidate of the party in the 2027 Gubernatorial elections.

The Minister in his response thanked the leaders for the confidence reposed in him through their overwhelming presence, kind words and pledges of support for his aspirations.

He expressed his gratitude for the uncommon political gestures towards his aspirations by the leaders. He reteirated his commitment to the unity, cooperation and collaboration among party executives, leaders and members at all levels and his stern belief in internal democracy at selecting party candidates for all elections.

Adelabu assured the leaders that he is well prepared and welcome healthy competitions among all aspirants for the next general elections.

He also briefed them about his consultation plans with all party stakeholders towards realising his ambitions which he began with the extended EXCO of the party last week. He informed them that his next point of call will be meeting with South East APC stakeholders, where he came from, to be followed by zonal consultations with all the leaders of the party across the seven geo-political zones.

Having been the party’s candidate in 2019 keenly contested primary elections, he maintained that he didn’t need any top-down validation or imposition from any quarter, state or federal as he knew what it takes to win party members to his side for support at primary elections without rancour, to be followed by genuine reconciliation among all contestants.

In his remarks at the meeting, APC leader from Ido local government, Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe commended Adelabu for his consistent support and magnanimity towards the welfare of party stalwarts across board. He added that the generous gesture of Adelabu to the party stakeholders particularly it’s leaders every Yuletide season including the recent Ileya festival can not be forgotten in a haste.

i

Also, Alhaji Mufutau Adisa Gbayawu took the gathering through historical lane right from 2015 when Oloye Bayo Adelabu had identified with Oyo state APC at the party level.

He recalled activities leading to Adelabu’s winning of APC gubernitorial ticket in September 2018 preparatory to 2019 General Elections and beyond.

After praying for divine guidance and wisdom for the Minister’s success in his renewed aspiration, the leaders collectively threw their weights behind the 2027 gubernatorial ambition of Adelabu as the candidate of the party in the 2027 elections.
