The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has been decorated as the Grand Patron of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Oyo State Branch, in recognition of his unrelenting support for the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors in the state.
The decoration took place during the 2025 PSN Oyo State Scientific Week and the Launching of the Pharmacy House Secretariat Complex, held at Mauve 21 Event Hall, Ring Road, Ibadan.
The event had in attendance, top dignitaries, professionals, and stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry from across the state.
In his remarks, Pharm. (Col.) Victor Segun Ajanaku (rtd), the Chairman of PSN Oyo State, praised Governor Makinde for his progressive healthcare policies, reforms, and support for pharmacists across the state.
He explained that the decision to honour the governor as its Grand Patron is a testament to Makinde’s giant strides in promoting healthcare infrastructure and access to quality medicine in Oyo State.
The Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal, who represented the governor, was also presented with a Distinguished Award by the PSN in recognition of his supportive and complementary role in the Makinde-led government’s healthcare vision which was attributed to creating stability and balance to the present administration.
Also, the executive chairman of Oluyole LG, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, was conferred with a Distinguished Award by the society for his contributions to pharmaceutical growth and advocacy at the grassroots.
The event also featured professional development sessions, exhibitions, and the unveiling of the Pharmacy House Secretariat Complex, which is set to serve as a hub for pharmaceutical excellence and innovation in Oyo State.
