It was indeed a mixed feeling of loss and tribute for a life well spent as remains of late Mrs Ester Ajoke Odeyemi JP ;wife of one of the prominent leaders of Okaka land, Chief Joseph Itiade Odeyemi was committed to mother earth.
The event, which attracted dignitaries from across the country and outside the shores of Nigeria was a testament to Mrs. Esther Odeyemi’s uncommon character and service to humanity while alive.
The two day event commenced with a wake keep at the First Baptist Church Okaka, on Thursday 31st of July, followed by the final burial rites on Friday, 1st of August.
Several distinguished personalities, including priests from Okaka and Akeetan Oyo along with their choirs ministered at the funeral service.
While testifying to the kind heartedness and benevolent attitude of late Mrs Ester Ajoke Odeyemi during her sojourn on earth ,Mrs Bose Odewumi from Oyo,Mrs Durojaye Adenike,Mrs Titilayo Bolanle Olakanla, Reverend Jeremiah Adeosun, Reverend Dr Femi Oyedokun of Emmanuel Baptist Church Oyo, and Reverend Dr Akintayo Suulola among others showered encomium and accolades on late mama Odeyemi, describing her as a devoted christian, cheerful giver and a wife who respected culture and tradition.
Ministering at the programme, Reverend Prof. Emiola Nihinlola, who read from the book of Chronicles chapter 4, said late Mrs Ester Ajoke Odeyemi lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation.
While speaking on the essence, meaning, purpose and ways of living an impactful life,Rev.Nihinlola stressed that God created and blessed human beings for a purpose.
He emphasized that due to the laziness of human being, God stated that to be blessed is to be a blessing to others.
The man of God buttressed his views from the book of Genesis chapter 1 verse 11, saying God promised Abraham land, greatness, blessings and resources.
He admonished people of the society to find God, seek God, know God, love God and above all be their brother’s keeper.
Speaking on behalf of his siblings,son of the deceased, Engr Tunde Odeyemi described his late mother as prayer warrior, a reliable mother and a confidant, whose demise will be felt forever.
In their tributes, members of Imole Jesu Emmanuel Baptist Church, Akeetan Oyo and Patriotic Club Okaka respectively, eulogized Mama Odeyemi for her exemplary attributes as a member and matron of the association and urged the children of the deceased to emulate the unwavering commitment and legacy of their late mother to the house of God and community as a whole.
Also In attendance at the programme, were the representatives of Olokaka of Okaka, His Royal Majesty Oba Abdul Azeez Olatunji Ayoola Ogelende the fourth, Okaka palace chiefs, Okaka Muslim Community led by the chief imam of Okaka. Others were Prof. Layi Eegunjobi,Iyaloja general of Oyo State Chief Mrs Folashade Abeo Oosa,Hon Kola Olabiyi,Hon Saheed Yusuf Alaran among others.
