A Political analyst, Comrade Odunayo Ahmed, has urged All Progressive Congress (APC) stakeholders in Oyo State to stop blaming Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, for the recent loss of the party in the just concluded bye-election in Ibadan North federal constituency.
He stated that the party’s loss should not be attributed to one individual, but stakeholders such as Senator Sharafadeen Ali, Sen. Yunus Akintunde, Sen. Fatai Buhari, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, and others in the party should instead focus on uniting the party for future elections.
Speaking on a live radio program in Ibadan, Ahmed emphasized the need for APC to put its house in order and work towards unity.
He noted that the party’s internal divisions and lack of cohesion were major contributors to its defeat in the bye-election.
Ahmed urged party leaders and members to look inward and address their differences rather than engaging in a blame game.
The analyst highlighted the importance of unity in reclaiming the APC’s mandate in Oyo State, particularly with the 2027 elections in view.
He stressed that only through unity can the party hope to regain the trust and support of the electorate.
Ahmed’s comments come on the heels of the APC’s loss in the bye-election, which has sparked debates and recriminations within the party.
According to Ahmed, Chief Adelabu’s role in the party’s loss should not be overemphasized. Instead, the party should focus on identifying the root causes of its defeat and working towards a more united and effective campaign strategy for future elections.
He said, “If they are talking about imposition, imposition will forever remained in politics, Senator Teslim Folarin was also imposed in 2023 as the gubernatorial candidate of the party because it wasn’t unanimous decision of the party that led to his emergence.
“This is not the time to blame anybody, I will advise them to sit tight, forget about the past and forge ahead particularly when 2027 general elections is around the corner.
“It’s only with collective effort APC can reclaim it’s mandate from PDP, they should know that imposition will forever continue, and they should know that there is no primary elections that is not guided.
“Governor Makinde also impose his candidate, Oyekunle, but PDP accepted him because they are wise, APC should do away from unnecessary hatred and withunting that can hindered chances of the party in future elections.
“Adelabu has not done anything wrong, though, he is not perfect, Folarin is not perfect, Sharafadeen Ali is not perfect, Sen. Akintunde, Sen. Fatai Buhari, Hon. Aderemi Oseni and others in there party are not perfect, so, everybody should stop playing blame game, they should forget the past, unite and focus on 2027 election and how to come back to power in the state.”
He however called on members of the party, particularly the youths to embrace unity and avoid being used as mole to disrupt the progressive in the state, saying they are the great beneficiaries if the party come back to power in 2027 because they are the future of the party.
