The people of Oke Ogun Area of Oyo State have been charged to prioritize the unity of the region through collaborative efforts and individual differences for the overall development of the region.
Oyo State Deputy Governor Barr Bayo Lawal gave the charge at the final burial ceremony held in honour of Pa Amos Adetunji Akande, Father of a former Chairman, Nigeria Communications Commission, Prof. Adeolu Akande.
The event was held at Baptist Church Otu.
Barr Bayo Lawal, while speaking, noted that it is imperative for the people of Oke Ogun to shun individual differences and embrace unity for the growth and development of the region.
According to him, the people of Ibadanland are well organized as one big family to pursue common goal for the development of Ibadanland.
The Deputy Governor, while calling for the robust collaboration among Oke Ogun indigenes, said the essence of good leadership is to alleviate the suffering of the masses and liberate them from the shackles of poverty.
He also used the occasion to explain the efforts of the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde towards making life meaningful to the people of Oyo State, particularly Oke Ogun Area.
Barr Bayo Lawal disclosed that Governor Makinde is working assiduously to address the problem of insecurity with the recent procurement of surveillance aircraft to checkmate the nefarious activities of criminals across the state.
The funeral ceremony attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including a former Governor of Ogun State Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his wife, Former CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, senator Fatai Buhari.
Other notable guests were former Deputy Governors of Oyo,Barr. Iyiola Oldokun, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola Halleluyah, Minister of Power Chief Bayo Adelabu, Former APC State Chairman Chief Akin Oke,Amofin Beulah Adeoye,Hon Kola Olabiyi and Mogaji Abbass Oloko.
While speaking on the theme” No one knows what will happen”,Vice Chairman Baptist Conference,Lagos West Region,Rev Dr T.O Jokotoye, said the death of Pa Amos Akande was a signal to everyone that death is inevitable, hence the need for them to prepare for hereafter.
The cleric, who disclosed that Pa Amos Akande was a Chelsea fan while alive,admonished the gathering to make judicious use of their time,plan ahead and prepare well for the future, saying that only God knows the actual time death will knock at individual’s door.
The man of God urged individuals to examine their lives and lived an impactful life.
Rev Dr Jokotoye, stressed that there is no room for change of heart, corrections , consultations and prayers after death. He therefore urged the people to readjust their ways and seek God’s grace, goodness and blessings when still alive.
The Minster of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu in his condolence message to the Akande family and the entire people of Oyo State, urged the people of the country to persevere with the present administration, saying good days are coming.
In their separate goodwill messages Senator Ibikunle Amosun,Barr Ahmed Raji SAN, Senator Hosea Ayoola Halleluyah and Amofin Beulah Adeoye, testified to an exemplary lifestyle of Pa Amos Akande during their random encounters, describing him as a lively, jovial and caring father with good legacy to reckon with.
Late Pa Amos Adetunji Akande, father of Prof Adeolu Akande died at the age of 90.
