The Osun State Polytechnic Alumni Association has honored the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, with its Distinguished Alumnus Award.

The recognition came during the association’s 31st anniversary celebration in Osogbo, where traditional rulers, political leaders, and accomplished alumni gathered.

The Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, personally present as the royal father of the day.

Receiving the award, Olatunji dedicated it first to Governor Seyi Makinde, describing him as a leader whose vision for Oyo state has continued to push him to do more at the grassroots.

He also dedicated the honour to Otunba Seye Famojuro, who he described as human political compass providing direction and guidance to his administration.

He also acknowledged years of Famojuro’s steady guidance and unwavering encouragement which Olatunji said have strengthened his courage amid distractions and discouragements.

He said the award felt like fuel propelling him to keep building, keep showing up for his people, while affirming that governance can make life easier for ordinary citizens when leaders have proper mentors like Famojuro.

Over the past few years, Olatunji has earned a reputation for hands-on community development. Residents of Oluyole often point to the small but steady improvements that make daily living a little smoother.

Under his watch, several inner roads that had long been a burden to motorists and traders have been rehabilitated. Key markets have received upgrades aimed at safety and better trading conditions.

His administration has also pushed environmental sanitation into a more consistent routine, clearing long-neglected spots that once posed health risks.

Borehole repairs and new water access points in some wards have eased the stress of residents who used to travel far for clean water.

In many communities, school renovation projects, support to vulnerable households, and steady engagement with traditional leaders have earned him a reputation as a chairman who listens before he acts.

The Alumni Association praised Olatunji’s commitment to public service and grassroots community development. The Association equally prayed for strength, clarity, and a fulfilling tenure.

The National Secretary of the association, Hon. Akeula Kolawole, in his brief remarks, noted how Olatunji had remained dependable whenever the community or the association called on him. His presence at the anniversary, he added, was a gesture the association deeply appreciated.

Also present in company of the Council boss were Hon. Adisa Jelili, (PDP Ward 4 Chairman), Hon. Ikeoluwa Oyepeju, Supervisory Councillor for Works, Hon. Sunday Adelaja, Special Assistant, Hon. Olaide Tawakalitu, Special Assistant, Hon. Ajarat Bello, Special Assistant, Hon. Lateef Olalekan, Special Assistant, all in Oluyole LG.
