The Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, and Aare of Ibadanland, His Eminence Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola (De-Damak), has congratulated Mr. Akeem Abas on his victory as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council.
In a statement released today by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Faysol Oluwakemi, the Aare Musulumi described Abas’ election as a reflection of the confidence and trust placed in him by journalists and media professionals across the state.
He prayed that Almighty Allah grants Abas wisdom, strength, and clarity to lead effectively.
The Aare Musulumi also commended the outgoing Chairman, Ademola Babalola, for his remarkable service and the stability he brought to the union during his tenure, highlighting his contributions to institutional growth.
Aare De-Damak further emphasized the vital role of the media in shaping society, deepening democracy, and guiding public opinion.
He admonished journalists to always uphold the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and professionalism, warning against the spread of misinformation and unverified reports.
The Aare Musulumi called on all members of the NUJ and media stakeholders in Oyo State to support the new leadership, work collaboratively, and continue advancing the welfare and professional standards of journalists across the state.
