Oluwasegun Adeyemi a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hopeful for the Akinyele 1 constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, has lauded the Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Wole Akinleye, for complementing Governor Engr. Seyi
Makinde’s security initiatives.
Speaking at the commissioning of the reconstructed Moniya Area Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force—alongside the inauguration of two motorised boreholes funded by Akinyele Local Government—Segun said the council boss has “performed creditably well by giving adequate priority to the security of lives and property of the citizens.”
He added that the urban‑renewal projects spearheaded by Governor Makinde have transformed Akinyele into a burgeoning commercial hub, making robust security even more essential.
The event, which drew senior officials from the state government, the police, and community leaders, highlighted the collaborative effort between the state and local authorities to strengthen the security architecture across Oyo. Governor Makinde, represented by his Deputy, Barr. Adebayo Lawal, reiterated that security is both a governmental responsibility and a collective duty.
Other dignitaries, including ALGON Chairman Hon. Sikiru Sanda, Commissioner for Education Hon. Segun Olayiwola, PDP chieftain Engr. Akinsola, and PDP Oyo Central representative Hon. Dayo Opatokun, also commended Akinyele’s focus on safety and the provision of basic amenities such as the new boreholes.
In his remarks, Hon. Wole Akinleye affirmed that his administration is working hand‑in‑hand with the state government to ensure an effective security system and urged residents to cooperate with law‑enforcement agencies.
He further announced the commissioning of the two motorised boreholes, underscoring the council’s commitment to improving both security and essential services in the area.
