The Chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Akeem Olatunji, has accused some political elements of orchestrating sustained attacks against his person and administration, describing them as individuals without grassroots appeal who are merely feeding on the political capital and goodwill of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Olatunji made the assertion while reacting to what he described as a series of calculated attempts to distract his administration from its transformational agenda at the grassroots, in line with the vision of Governor Makinde.

According to him, the latest in the chain of attacks was the submission of what he termed unfounded and malicious allegations contained in a petition written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

He said the petition was not motivated by public interest but by desperation and political irrelevance.

The local government boss stated that the desperation of his political detractors in Oluyole PDP have further exposed what he termed evil agenda and hatred for the progress of the party.

He wondered how any politicians who claimed to love the PDP would remain in the party to destabilize its administration. He noted that such actions were only synonymous to opposition parties.

He advised those behind the continued orchestrated attacks against his person and administration not to act cowardly by being courageous to leave the party in order for them to be treated as opposition elements ahead of the next electoral cycle.

He maintained that even though politics remains a game of interest, it is primarily about service to the people. He said the manifested political desperation in Oluyole LG by his detractors has shown the depth of selfish interests and agenda being pursued regardless of its impact on the image of the PDP.

“This pattern is very clear. These are individuals who have no connection with the people at the grassroots, no political capital, and no record of service other than history of serial electoral failures.

“They lack the credibility and political popularity to appeal to the people at the grassroots and as such, they have decided to hide behind their backers to destabilize a thriving PDP administration at the grassroots.

“Their sustained attacks have only shown one thing very clearly, it doesn’t matter to them what happens to the PDP’s image. It is about their unrestrained desperation for 2027 ticket.

“And their only strategy is to ride on the popularity of Governor Seyi Makinde and manufacture distractions in places where real governance is happening simply because it threatens their political ambitions,” Olatunji stated.

The council boss stressed that his administration has remained focused on delivering people oriented projects and strengthening local governance, adding that no amount of blackmail would derail the pace of development in Oluyole Local Government.

He noted that the confidence reposed in his leadership by critical stakeholders across the local government remains a strong indication of his political strength and acceptance among the people.

Olatunji pointed to the open support enjoyed by his administration from traditional institutions within the local government, labour unions, political stakeholders, party faithful and various religious organisations as evidence that the people of Oluyole are already enjoying good governance and solidly behind his leadership.

“From our royal fathers to organised labour, from party leaders to Islamic, Christian, and traditional worshippers, the support we continue to receive speaks louder than sponsored petitions and media noise.

“The people can see the difference and they understand who is genuinely working for them,” Olatunji added.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Makinde’s vision of grassroots development and institutional strengthening, pledging that his administration would continue to align with the governor’s policies on accountability, service delivery and inclusive governance.

Olatunji also commended security and anti graft agencies for always being professional and thorough in their duties, expressing continued confidence in their roles as partners in progress.

“Our focus remains service. Oluyole people deserve results not dirty politics, not distractions, and that is exactly what this administration will continue to deliver, Olatunji concluded.
