The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has congratulated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family in Oyo State on the successful opening and commissioning of the party’s new State Secretariat, describing it as a landmark achievement that will further strengthen the party’s structure, unity, and administrative effectiveness.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin stated this shortly after the opening of the PDP Secretariat in Ibadan by the Acting National Chairman of the party, Dr. Kabiru Taminu Turaki (SAN).
The new Secretariat was donated to the party by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The Speaker said the gesture was a clear demonstration of the Governor’s unwavering commitment to the growth, stability, and institutional development of the PDP in Oyo State and across the country.
According to the Speaker, the new Secretariat symbolises the PDP’s resilience and readiness to consolidate its gains and confront future political engagements with renewed confidence.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin further explained that the facility will serve as a central hub for coordination, grassroots mobilisation, effective communication, and inclusive management of party affairs across the state.
The Speaker noted that the presence of top national leaders of the PDP, and other members of the National Executive Committee, as well as the former Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau at the commissioning, lent credibility and national significance to the historic event.
He said their attendance reaffirmed the strategic importance of Oyo State within the PDP’s national structure and demonstrated confidence in the leadership and unity of the Oyo PDP family.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin commended Governor Makinde for his visionary leadership and his consistent role in championing the PDP at both the state and national levels, describing him as a dependable leader whose inclusive approach and commitment to good governance have continued to strengthen the party.
He also applauded the state party leadership, elders, stakeholders, and members for their collective dedication and sacrifices that culminated in the successful completion and commissioning of the Secretariat.
While acknowledging the challenges facing the party nationally, the Speaker expressed optimism that the PDP will emerge stronger, noting that the Oyo State chapter remains steadfast in supporting efforts aimed at repositioning the party through cohesion, discipline, and people-oriented governance.
The Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyo State House of Assembly, under his leadership, to continue working in synergy with the executive arm of government and the PDP leadership to consolidate democratic gains and deliver impactful dividends of democracy to the people of Oyo State.
