The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Mr. Adenola Johnson as the new Commissioner of Police in Oyo State.
Mr. Johnson takes over from the former commissioner, Mr. Shonubi, who retired last month.
A seasoned police officer, CP Adenola has made significant contributions to both the Nigerian Police Force and international peacekeeping efforts.
An alumnus of Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School, he pursued higher education at Ogun State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in August 1988 and a Master’s degree in Public Administration in 1992.
His law enforcement career began in 1992 when he joined the Nigerian Police Force as a Cadet ASP. Over the years, he served in various capacities across multiple states and departments, including the Criminal Investigation Department in Lagos, Officer-in-Charge of ‘X’ Squad at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, and the Criminal Intelligence & Investigation Department in Kogi.
He also held key administrative roles such as Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Discipline and Deputy Force Secretary at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.
His leadership abilities and dedication to combating crime earned him the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, where he served at the Department of Operations, Delta State Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.
Beyond his national service, CP Adenola has played an active role in global peacekeeping, volunteering for United Nations missions in Sudan and Sierra Leone to help restore stability and security in conflict-affected areas. His expertise in crisis management and security protocols was further enhanced through specialized courses, including the Disaster Victim Identification Course and the Security Risk Management Course in Amsterdam.
CP Adenola is expected to bring his wealth of experience to Oyo State, strengthening law enforcement efforts and ensuring public safety.
