Katsina United FC scored late to earn a hard fought 1-0 win over Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan.
The matchday 28 encounter decided at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, was heading to a stalemate when substitute Ahmed Taofeek scored in the fifth of the seven additional minutes.
The homers threw everything into the game but were well curtailed by the Oluyole Warriors’ defense.
After both sides battled to a goalless first half, there was more to play for in the second half and it was the homers who were more adventurous.
With goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal standing firm in between the sticks, the 3SC backline displayed brave performance to thwart the efforts of the homers.
When it appears spoils will be shared, Katsina United scored a heartbreaking goal, courtesy of Ahmed Taofeek, whose shot took a slight deflection off Adelowo Gbolagade, beating Mustapha Lawal in the process.
Up next for the Ibadan soccer lords is another game on the road, as they will travel to Uyo for a matchday 29 fixture against Akwa United next Sunday.
