Chairman Lanlate Council of Elders, Chief Agboola Adeyemo donates Published Autobiography to Tertiary Institutions in Ibarapa

The Chairman, Lanlate Elders Council and Mogaji Adio of Lanlate, Chief Agboola Adeyemo has donated copies of his Autobiography to Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora and two other institutions in the area namely; Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa and Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate.

 

In his presentation, Chief Ojelere described the motive behind his book donation as a way of expressing gratitude to God and contributing to one’s environment.

Chief Adeyemo decried lack of mentorship among the youth while noting that the donation of 25 copies of his autobiography to OYSCATECH Library and other tertiary institutions in Ibarapa is a unique opportunity for the upcoming generation to learn from other people’s experience in order to enrich their understanding.

 

He explained that the donation would help in promoting reading culture, while noting that reading is an effective way to improve focus and concentration. He added that the act of giving books has ripple effect of positivity, fostering education and literacy in the community.

 

In his words, “reading enhances critical thinking skills and creativity. It broadens vocabulary, knowledge and stimulate imagination.

 

The Chairman, Lanlate Elders Council revealed that books stand for knowledge, imagination, truth, beauty, escape and love, packaged with diverse lessons which can change lives.

In his remarks, the Rector, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi commended the donor for documenting his life journey in a book of over 160 pages.

Prof. Akinola thanked the octogenarian for his generosity and leadership within Ibarapa region, while promising that the books will be assessable to students and youths in the environs through OYSCATECH Library.

Dignitaries on the entourage of the donor included; the immediate past Bursar, Dr. Sarafa Agbogun, Engr. Dr. Adegoke Adekola, Chairman, Association of Ibarapa Staff Indigenes, OYSCATECH Chapter, Mr. Peter Oladokun and Members, while the entire Management Team of the Institution were not left out.

 

The Donor, Chief Agboola Adeyemo was the former Executive Chairman, Ibarapa East Local Government between 1994 & 1996, Coordinator, Fraser Eagle Management Services, London, UK, Volunteer Administrator, Mill End Community Centre, UK, Former Director, Lanlate Community Bank, Chairman, Board of Governors of Bioku Grammar School Lanlate and Lanlate High School.

 

Chief Adeyemo is the President, Lanlate Progressive Union, President, Baptist College Iwo, Old Student Association 1969 set, Alumnus of University of Lagos and Member, Abeokuta Sports Club, Member, Ibadan Golf Club, Member, Kaduna Club and Member, Plateau Club of Jos.
