...as LG Chairman donates cash support to Oyo Police Command, communities, PWD

The Oyo State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, has hailed the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, describing him as a “performer” following his remarkable achievements within one year in office.

Mogbonjubola, popularly known as “Jagaban,” made the commendation during the week at the commemorative anniversary event held to celebrate Olatunji’s one year in office.

He expressed amazement at the large turnout and the scale of empowerment packages prepared for distribution at the event.

“As I drove into the council, I was shocked and exclaimed, ‘The whole of Oluyole LG is already converged here’! Well, let’s continue to support our great party because it is the success of our party that has culminated into the success of our LG Chairman,” Mogbonjubola said.

Welcoming new members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oluyole, the Commissioner assured them that PDP remains unmatched in Oyo State under the firm leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Let nobody be deceived by anyone, Oyo State is a PDP state. We may not be the one controlling Abuja, but Oyo State belongs to the PDP under our overall leader, Governor Seyi Makinde,” he stated.

Similarly, the Chairman of Oyo state Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole popularly known as ‘Wolekanle’ described Olatunji as a trailblazer who came into government fully prepared for the job.

He assured that his office will continue to deepen collaboration and synergy with visionary leaders like Olatunji who’s transformative and developmental policies and programs have evidently brought joy and happiness to his people in Oluyole LG.

At the same event, Wife od the Oyo state Deputy Governor, Mrs. Ajibola Lawal, made the cheque presentation of ₦500,000 to the Oyo State Police Command to support its operations and other beneficiaries of the cash donations.

The Idi-Ayunre Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Akinwande Aruna, received the donation on behalf of the command.

The Council boss also extended financial support to various communities within Oluyole Local Government and to persons with disabilities (PWD) as part of his administration’s ongoing commitment to security, community welfare, and social inclusion.

Speaking during a brief presentation of empowerment items at the council secretariat in Idi-Ayunre, Olatunji explained that the cash support to the Police Command would help with logistics, fuel, and other operational needs, especially given the rising cost of security operations.

“We cannot overemphasize the importance of security to the growth of various communities in our local government.

“The police are our frontline partners in ensuring peace, and it is our duty to support them in every way possible,” Olatunji said.

Several community leaders also received financial assistance to execute grassroots projects aimed at improving living conditions.

Some of the beneficiaries included Oke-Ogbere General Community (Ward 3)– ₦500,000, Agara Community–₦300,000, New Felele in Soka–₦250,000, Asaju Community–₦200,000, and Sanyo Agbamu–₦200,000.

Special attention was given to persons with disabilities, with Ibrahim Akinade receiving ₦200,000 to boost his small business.

Olatunji reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance assuring that his priority will continue to be the well-being of his people and the improvement of their livelihoods in line with the Sustainable Development Agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Our PWD community plays an important role in the socio-economic fabric of Oluyole, and we will continue to empower them so they can live with dignity and contribute meaningfully to society,” Olatunji added.

Representatives of beneficiary communities, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the League of Imams and Alfas, African Traditional Worshipers (Isese), PDP stakeholders, and PWD groups attended the event.

They commended Olatunji for his proactive leadership and for prioritizing security and social welfare at the grassroots level, vowing to continue to support his political journey in whatever capacity the PDP may present him for future elections.
