The Oyo State House Assembly has condemned the lackadaisical attitude of the Oodua Nation Agitators over the attempted invasion of the Agodi State Secretariat.
The house made the condemnation following a motion raised by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, under a matter of urgent public importance and presented by the leader of the house, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, on the floor of the house.
The motion, co-sponsored by Hon Sanjo Adedoyin, Hon Dawood Olarere, and four other members of the house, commended Governor Seyi Makinde and Security Operatives for taking proactive steps to curb the nefarious activities of the Oodua Nation Agitators.
Deliberating on the matter on the floor, some lawmakers, including Hon Abiodun Babalola, Hon Dawood Olarere, the Chief Whip of the House, Hon Gbenga Oyekola, Hon Adebayo Babajide, and Hon Olorunpoto Rahman, in their separate reactions, emphasised the need for strengthening the security apparatus of Agodi State Secretariat Ibadan
The lawmakers also suggested that there should be surveillance cameras within the state Secretariat complex, coupled with the provision of more security personnel to ensure safety at the Assembly complex.
Also, the Chairman of the House Committee on Media, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, representing the Oluyole State constituency, called for adequate security for government-owned media houses and extension to private media organisations in the state.
After extensive deliberation, the house resolved that the executive arm of government should dialogue with some agitators, including Oodua Nation agitators and others.
This, according to the lawmakers, will reduce the incessant protests by the agitators and ensure peace in Oyo State.
