A grandmother, Fatimo Ganiyu is now in police custody for allegedly locking up three infants in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the suspect was arrested on Wednesday at about 4:00 p.m following the discovery of the said children.
According to a viral video, the children looked malnourished.
Speaking with newsmen, a resident claimed that the children were locked up for days without food or water.
She said, “The children were abandoned for a while, and they were locked up without food or water for days. Some people claim it has been for months, while others say it has been for weeks.”
A police source from the division who pleaded anonymity says, the three children, consisting of two boys and a girl between the ages of two and four, were locked up by their grandmother at Agodo Egbe in Ikotun.
The source added that despite appearing malnourished, the infants were saved and brought to the station.
Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to newsmen as he added that the infants would receive the right care and attention while investigation is ongoing.
