The Executive Chairman of Oluyole local government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji has officially inaugurated the Council legislative House.
This was as Honorable Azeez Taofeek (ward 3) emerged Leader of the House unopposed.
Hon. Taofeek’s emergence followed his nomination by Hon. Dele Adesina (ward 2) and was duly seconded.
Consequently, the Oluyole legislative House has elected its leadership as follows;
Adeagbo Adeyemi (ward 10), Deputy Leader, Hon. Dele Adesina (Majority Leader), Waheed Adeagbo (ward 1) emerged chief whip.
Earlier in his brief pre-inaugural address, the executive chairman expressed his felicitation to all members of the House and called for unity of purpose in their legislative business.
He also disclosed that he has issued a directive to the department of works to make urgent assessment of the Legislative Building and come up with a comprehensive report and cost implication for immediate renovation.
While lamenting the inhabitable state of the legislative building, the Chairman added that the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters has been duly informed and has equally given his nod for the immediate renovation of the legislative House.
Olatunji therefore, urged the Councilors to place interest of the local government above all personal interest assuring that he would give them all the needed support to succeed as a House.
He stated that Governor Seyi Makinde expects nothing less than success story from Oluyole and vowed to work closely with all interests to achieve that expectation.
He tasked the new House leadership on legislating impactful laws that would further entrench democracy at the grassroots which will deepen delivery of good governance.
In his brief inaugural remarks, the House Leader, Hon. Tirimisiyu appreciated the executive chairman for his exemplary leadership and assured that he would work closely with his colleagues to drive down the Oluyole sustainable development agenda under the administration of Engr. Akeem Olatunji.
Present at the event are the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Oluyole local government, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola, Akeem Olatunji Transition Committee Chairman, Architect Salaam Azeez, top local government officials and party faithful.
After its inaugural sitting, the House Adjourned sitting to June 15.
