The Oyo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has on Friday presented Hon. Seun Olufade as her candidate for Ibadan North Local Government for the forthcoming local government election in the State. This took place at Sango Garage, in the heart of Ibadan North Local Government.
To the admiration of Party’s members and leaders, the flag of the party was presented to Hon. Seun Olufade and his running mate, Hon. Akeem.
This event set the stage for a spirited campaign aimed at securing a decisive win in the local polls scheduled on Saturday April 27
It would be recalled that the PDP’s election management committee and the state working committee has been touring all federal constituencies to canvas for votes for her candidates with Ibadan North being the 11 federal constituency already toured, leaving behind 3 to round up. A move which has been regarded to be meticulously planned to curry masses votes and also to rally support for her candidates. Dr. Nureni Adeniran, the chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board and coordinator for the local government elections in Ibadan also graced the event. His presence underscored the importance of the elections and the party’s commitment to quality voters’ education and grassroots engagement in governance.
Also in attendance was the secretary of the Party, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke took the APC leaders to the cleaners over a comment made by a defeated emasculated and serial loser of governorship elections in the State about the outcome of the last governorship election .
He highlighted the substantial margins of past PDP victories, which he argued left the APC with no grounds to challenge the results, effectively questioning the opposition’s relevance in the State’s political landscape.
Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Fola Akinosun, added his voice to the chorus of party leaders. He called on all party faithful and leaders to work in unison to ensure the delivery of Seun Olufade’s chairmanship. Emphasizing the importance of Governor Seyi Makinde’s legacy, he urged supporters to mobilize at the grassroots level to replicate the governor’s success stories across the local government.
Contributing to the campaign’s momentum, Hon. Olaniyan Olatunde Akoro, chairman of the Shooting Stars Sports Club, addressed the issue of electoral integrity and security. He encouraged the electorate to not only vote but also stay vigilant and monitor their votes, assuring them of maximum security. Akoro’s speech was aimed at bolstering confidence of the voters, reinforcing the party’s commitment to a fair electoral process.
Cheering the crowd was the popular Ibadan fuji maestro, Alhaji Taye Akanbi Currency, entertained the attendees with his vibrant ruji renditions, adding a festive atmosphere to the political gathering. His performance was a reminder of the deep cultural roots the party enjoys among the locals.
A key figure among the Party leaders who spoke was Alhaji Ismailia Ashipa, assured the Party of total support from Ibadan North. Asipa declared the locality would deliver a 100% victory for the PDP, echoing the sentiments of unyielding support and confidence prevalent among the party’s base.
The leadership of the Party in the State who were on ground at the event were Hon. Muftau Ogunremi, Hon. Dayo Opatokun, and Hon. Adelabu Aderemi Alaba, Micheal Ogunsina, Barr. Waheed Gbadegesin.
Other local leaders such as Mogaji Jeleel Adanla, Hon. Adeniyi Adeyinka Bibiire, and Hon. Julian Nwachukwu, Hon. Yusuf Sahib (Agba Egbe) Hon. Babajide Gabriel) Hon. Comforter, Hon. Toying Balogun among others. Their presence highlighted the broad base of support for the PDP’s initiatives and candidates, bridging community leaders with political figures to foster a cohesive campaign strategy.
The message was clear in Ibadan North Local Government that come next week Saturday, it is going to be a PDP
affair all the way. Just as the campaign was not just campaigning for a candidate but nurturing a vision for local governance that aligned closely with the aspirations of the people of Ibadan North. The party’s commitment to issues such as education, security, and transparent governance were repeatedly emphasized, resonating well with the electorate.
